2005-2006
ESU#13 began a new improvement cycle.
ESU#13 provides many programs and delivers services across 15,000
square miles in the panhandle of Nebraska. Complex systems like this learn
that interconnectedness and working together to achieve student learning is
needed to fulfill our mission. In 2005-2006, ESU #13 worked with Dr.
Jean Ann Petz to study the PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) process as a way of
managing change and developing consistent methods to consider needed changes, to
find "root causes", to test proposed solutions to problems, processes and
systems and to find ways to ensure that improved processes are utilized
throughout the system. The programs and services provided at ESU #13 are
currently collecting data, updating profiles and trial testing some of the
quality tools used in this process.

Planning for program improvement
2005-2006
ESU staff are encouraged to use "quality tools" for recording as they
collect and analyze information for program improvement. Templates for
some of these "tools" are included below for ease in use. These are in
Microsoft Word format. They MUST BE SAVED to local computer
before typing or making changes. (Once saved, activate a text box by double or triple clicking on the area
in which you wish to type.) ESU staff can then place the final
version on this website by contacting the tech department. Regional
districts are encouraged to use these tools, too.
