A "5" Could Make Me Lose Control for Evaluating and supporting highly anxious students Kari Dunn Buron Hands -on activity helps students who are highly anxious cope with their stress by systematizing social and emotional information. Suggestion for how to include it as a part of the FBA and a problem-solving activity are included.
A "5" is Against the Law Kari Dunn Buron This book takes a narrower look at challenging behavior with a particular focus on behaviors that can spell trouble for adolescents and young adults who have difficulty understanding and maintaining social boundaries.
A Guide to Asperger's Syndrome  Gillberg, Christopher Chistopher Gillberg is a Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Goteborg in Sweden and the University of London, UK
A Guide to Successful Employment for Individuals with Autism   This book describes in a very thorough, practical, and positive way how even those who are most severely affected by the disorder can succeed in the workplace
Amazingly Alphie:  Understanding and Accepting Different Ways of Being Roz Espin Great Read for teachers, parents and students.  Can be used easily with peers in a peer training.  Easy to understand.
A Parent’s Guide to Asperger's Syndrome & High Functioning Autism:  How to Meet the Challenges and Help your Child Thrive Ozonoff, Sally; Dawson, Geraldine; & McPartland, James Some books on this topic can make you cry, but this one will empower you to action
A Pictures Worth: Pecs and Other Visual Communication Strategies in Autism    Parents of children with autism can significantly improve their child’s ability to communicate using the visual communication strategies described in this easy-to-understand guide.
A Thorn in My Pocket Cutler, Eustacia This book is written by Temple Grandin's mother.  Very interesting and also informative.
A Treasure Chest of Behavioral Strategies  Fouse, Beth  and  Wheeler, Maria This book offers comprehensive insights into the behavior challenges of a person with Autism/PDD and related disorders.
A Work in Progress:  Behavior Management Strategies and a Curriculum for Intensive Behavioral Treatment  of Autism Leaf, Ron & McEachin John This resource has been evaluated by many parents and say it has wonderful strategies.
Access and Inclusion for Children with ASD   The authors of this book explore the universal issues of access and inclusion in employment and education for children and young people with autism or Asperger’s syndrome.
Activity Schedules for Children with Autism   Based on a decade of research conducted at the Princeton Child Development Institute, this book presents teaching methods that have proven very effective for students with autism.  Detailed instructions and examples help parents prepare their child’s first photographic schedule, and then progress to more varied and sophisticated schedules that gradually help their child become more independent.
Addressing the Challenging Behaviors of Children with HFA/Asperger's Syndrome in the Classroom    This book provides possible explanations for behaviors, and also helps both teachers and parents in how to address the behaviors.

Answers to Questions Teachers Ask About Sensory Integration Kranowitz, Carol; Szkut, Stacey; Matin, Lynn; Haber, Elizabeth ; Sava, Deanna After a brief introduction to sensory integration, this practical book goes on to present an extensive and easy-to-use set of checklists and other tools that teachers and parents can effectively use in working with children with sensory integration challenges.
Ask and Tell: Self-Advocacy and Disclosure for People on the Autism Spectrum   A very inspiring piece of work written by and for people who are on the Autism Spectrum.

Asperger's Syndrome and the Elementary School Experience:  Practical Solutions for Academic and Social Difficulties. Moore, Susan Written by an educator and mother of two children with autism spectrum disorders.  Practical with lots of forms, checklists and other visuals make this helpful and effective.  Easy to implement ideas.
Asperger's Syndrome and Your Child:  A Parent’s Guide Powers, Michael Engaging vignettes about children with AS.  Vital information for parents.
Asperger's Syndrome:  An Owner's Manual  What you, Your Parents and Your Teachers Need to Know Ellen S. Heller Korin This is an interactive guide and workbook.  It is designed for students grade 5-8 to use with guidance from a helping teacher or parent.  It describes what Asperger Syndrome is and how it can affect daily life.  The student completes a series of exercises related to learning style, sensory issues, emotions, relationships, etc.  You end up with a written plan for each major area of his life that will serve as a guide and reinforcement.

Asperger's Syndrome, the Universe and Everything Hall, Kenneth Kenneth Hall is a 10 yr. old boy who is exceptionally gifted and a member of Mensa.  He has AS.  Children will find this book warm and positive.

Autism Spectrum Disorders   This book offers a thorough overview of the communication, language, social and behavioral issues that are characteristic of autism spectrum disorders.  There are also practical guidelines for intervention designed for children with autism and their families.
Autism Through a Sister’s Eyes Band, Eve; & Hecht, Emily This young lady was searching as to why her brother did that brought her to getting answers.  Emily’s story is uplifting as it is filled with valuable information. Nicely illustrated, it is an exceptional sibling book for both brothers and sisters.

Autism: For Parents and Professionals   This is an outstanding resource from the heart and experience of a parent, SLP, and advocate all rolled into one.  There are helpful professional techniques, useful therapy strategies, and inspirational stories of facing the challenges of autism.
Autistic Thinking - This is the Title   To better understand the thinking of a person with autism this little book, put together by Peter Vermeulen gives wonderful translations and anecdotes.
