I AM Utterly Unique Elaine Marie Larson This book is laid out in an A - Z format.  Discover the unique characteristics and abilities of children with Asperger's Syndrome.   I Am Utterly Unique encourages dialogue with siblings, friends parents and teachers.
I'm Not Naughty, I'm Autistic   Written by Jody’s mother but told from his point of view, this is a fascinating, funny, and insightful account of growing up with autism.
Inclusive Programming for Elementary Students with Autism   One of the most important new books on inclusion, this should be in every elementary library.  Learn benefits of inclusion exercises and programs that make inclusion comfortable for the child with autism, his teacher and fellow students.
Inclusive Programming for Middle School Students with Autism/Asperger's Syndrome   This book illustrates methods and techniques to comfortably blend middle school students with autism and their classmates in the classroom.
Inside Out:  What Makes a Person with Social Cognitive Deficits Tick?   Written by a leading Speech/language pathologist, this book offers methods to improve social cognition.  Sections include lessons on listening, understanding, perspective taking, Gestalt processing, humor, reading comprehension, relating socially and more.
It Can Get Better . . . Dealing with Common Behavior Problems in Young Autistic Children Dickinson, Paul; Hannah, Liz This little booklet with its lighthearted illustrations contains the practical information parents and caregivers need to get through a difficult period and to tackle some of the day to day challenges of caring for a child with ASD.  Some of the topics include:  Temper tantrums; problems with toileting, sleep and feeding; self-help skills and learning to play, plus many more.
Keeping Katherine:  A Mother's Journey into Acceptance Zimmermann, Susan This book tells the mother's story of her life with her daughter Katherine, who has Rett Syndrome.  It follows her acceptance of the changed dynamic of her family, the pressures placed on her marriage, career, and relationship with her parents.  An honest and passionate book.
Little Rainman   This picture book, written by a mother as if the child is speaking, describes how a child with autism feels about his environment and its sensory challenges.  This mother wrote this book to help others understand the real “world of autism” and to encourage early diagnosis.
Making a Difference:  Behavioral Intervention for Autism Edited by: Catherine Maurice, Gina Green and Richard Foxx This book builds and expands upon the work of Behavioral Intervention for Young Children with Autism.  This book also says that whatever you utilize must be based up on credible research and data.  Lots of ideas and suggestions.
Map It Out:  Visual Tools for Thinking, Organizing, and Communicating  Wiig, Elisabeth; Wilson, Carolyn This resource provides visual tools for effective teaching and language intervention across four major areas:  meaning and content, text comprehension, context, and school knowledge/study skills.  Part I is theory and Part II has 50 sets of instructions with easily removed and reproducible work maps.

My Andrew:  Day -to-Day Living with a Child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder Wallace A. Simpson Heartfelt book that looks into the first 8 years of a family's journey to raise their son with autism.  It describes the emotional ups and downs of daily living.
My Friend with Autism  Bishop, Beverly Created as a coloring book with a surprising educational twist.  This book is written for anyone who comes into contact with a child with Autism.  Parents will find helpful notes and teachers will find it a valuable resource because of its capability to foster integration of autistic children into the student group.
Navigating the Social World  McAfee, Jeanette Superb resource for both parents and professionals.
1001 Great Ideas for Teaching and Raising Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders Veronica Zysk and Ellen Notbohm This book will save hours of looking and searching for help with day to day challenges.  This is page after page of try-it-now solutions that have worked for thousands with children grappling with communication, social, sensory, behavior, self-care issues and more.
One Minute Academic Functional Assessment and Interventions Witt, Joe & Beck, Ray This book is designed to help teachers determine if a student “can’t do it” or “won’t do it.”  There are also a series of step by step intervention and teaching strategies.
